Calaveras, Ca. - What are your thoughts regarding Proposition 215 cards? Do you think recreational marijuana users abuse the cards?
“I think they need to be further regulated. The law should further define what constitutes an affliction and requires that kind of medicine. Doctors should be held accountable. I think it should be for terminally ill. Yes I do think it's abused. For one, I think it's raised the level of criminality in the whole marijuana game. Ever since they made it legal, more people are growing it and there has been more crime associated with it. It needs to be reeled back.” Cardell Daniels, 44, Vallecito Concert promoter “I think Proposition 215 cards are good things. If the person had gone for a physical exam and the doctor had recommended marijuana, they obviously need it to cope with their pain or whatever problem they have. I think Prop 215 was just an excuse to more or less make marijuana legal. If there is abuse, I think it's the doctors' fault. They are not checking or properly diagnosing them with the correct ailment.” Wesley Webster, 21, Angels Camp Cook at Greenhorn Creek Would you find it acceptable to have a dispensary or collective operating in your hometown? “Sure. Got a bar down at the end of the street. I think alcohol should be illegal. It causes so much destructive stuff in our society. People beating their wives and molesting their children. They don't even get punished when they get drunk and kill people. If you can put up with alcohol being sold on the street, how bad can a dispensary be? Besides, this is a libertarian enclave. Government should mind their own business.” Tom Gilmore, 64 Angels Camp resident for 31 years. “Yeah, I'd be perfectly OK with it. There should be some up here so people with cards don't have to go as far to get their weed.” Tara Mosberger, 15, Murphys Bret Harte High School student Do you support the ballot measure to legalize marijuana in California? If legalized, what would be the positive and negative consequences? “I do not support the legalization of marijuana. Because I don't believe it's right for people to take drugs. I don't see anything positive and I think there are a lot of negatives. I think people get their hands on it and it's not good for them. I don't think our state should legalize it. There are other ways to get taxes then on that.” Donna Stuhmer, 56, Valley Springs Assistant Manger for Angels Glad Tidings “It doesn't matter. Realistically, it should be legalized. There is more to marijuana then just smoking it. You can use the plant for so much. You can use it for clothes. There is more to it than the smoking of it. You can use the plant for more than just the common bud. If they did legalize it, it could get California out of debt so fast. It's like bootlegging. Just like with anything, if you don't like it, don't buy it, if you got an issue with it. It's like porn: If you don't like it, don't watch it. (The) state would be getting a lot more money. If they use that money wisely, they could get California out of debt really quick. There is probably not much more negative then what's going on now. People are already smoking it. It will actually be controlled by the state and government. There really isn't much bad that could happen. If anything, I see it as all positive.” Skeez Nava, 37, Jamestown Owner of Skeez's Cutting Lounge http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...foothills.html |
