With a number of states adopting the medical use of marijuana, including California, its users are putting in all their efforts in evading the “pot” image of the drug by establishing franchising dispensaries and manufacturing brands.

Steve DeAngelo, president of CannBe, expressed his enthusiasm towards boosting the use of marijuana. He said that he will not call it “marijuana”, preferring to call it with its scientific name “cannabis.” He said that the followers aim at promoting it as a responsible and safe drug.

“If we can’t demonstrate professionalism and legitimacy, we’re never going to gain the trust of our citizen and without that trust, we’re never going to get where we need to go”, he said.

John Lovell, a California lobbyist who is also a representative of the two major police groups which oppose legalization, ridiculed the notion that marijuana users are trying to refine their misconducts.
