Legalized in the state of Montana since 2004, medical marijuana proponents continue to face obstacles in their quest for access and distribution.

Another battle is set to take place on Tuesday on the future of medical marijuana shops in southwestern Montana. The Anaconda-Deer Lodge courthouse will be the battleground as county commissioners will vote an ordinance that proposes a six-month moratorium on the growing, manufacturing and dispensing of marijuana in Deer Lodge County.

Without any current regulations to reference, the county wants to use the six months to study and create possible zoning and cultivation regulations. It cites security and safety concerns due to the scale of cultivating this commodity. However, the proposed six-month moratorium does allow authorized patients to obtain and use the drug.
