Default Controversial Cook County Marijuana Law Not Enforced

The Cook County Sheriff's Department has not been enforcing the controversial marijuana law that is now in place.

Last summer, the county commissioners passed a law that gave officers the choice when handling the situation.

The officers could either arrest people who had 10 grams or less of marijuana, or write them a $200 ticket.

Since the law has been passed there has not been one ticket issued or a single arrest made.

The Cook County Sheriff, Tom Dart, states that he was never consulted about the bill and he also claims that the law is not uniform enough.
