Britain on Tuesday apologised to Nigeria over the invasion of the home of its diplomat under the pretext of searching for drugs.
The incident occurred on June 18 when detectives from the Scotland Yard raided the house where they thought Indian hemp was being produced. The detectives said they were deceived in carrying out the raid by the intense heat from the house. Drug farms are said to use high-powered lights which generate a lot of heat to aid the growth of cannabis. A letter from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, addressed to the Nigerian High Commission in London said the Police inadvertently entered Tafida’s home at 113 Hendon Way, NW2, London.
