After tonight's meeting of the Citizens Police Review Board, California marijuana activist Ed Rosenthal spoke briefly with The Maneater and said he would like the MU School of Journalism and the School of Law to help investigate the Columbia Police Department's investigation of the controversial raid.
"What I'd like to do is help the School of Journalism and the law school here set up investigation teams of the police department here to actually go through a lot of these documents and see just what the police are doing," he said. "Because I believe that the chief's report just papered over real internal problems that have festered over the past 20 years. They haven't done anything about it yet." Rosenthal said he will not being staying in town for next week's meeting when American Civil Liberties Union lawyer Dan Viets' similar complaint concerning the controversial February SWAT raid is heard by the board. He said he will return to Columbia in October.
