RAEFORD, NC (WBTV) - Three people in Eastern North Carolina were charged with drug possession after deputies happened to spot large marijuana plants growing openly in front of their house – as if they were shrubbery.

The incident happened in Hoke County earlier this week after Raeford Police and sheriff's officials received a complaint "about marijuana being grown at the location," the sheriff's office said in a press release.

When police and sheriff's officials arrived they saw "the large plant being grown in the front yard from the road way," according to officials in Raeford, which is located about 15 miles southwest of Fayetteville.

Three people – a man and two women – who live at 213 Lafayette Woods in Raeford were charged with manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Hubert A. Peterkin, Hoke County Sheriff.

Jo Anna Jackson, 31, Darlene Hicks Woods, 38, and James Alton Locklear Jr., 29, were all arrested on Tuesday and held on a $10,000 secured bond.
