SANTA CRUZ -- Three men with handguns stole marijuana and $4,000 cash from a home on the 300 block of Washington Street on Friday afternoon, authorities reported.
No one was hurt in the armed home-invasion robbery. The robbers got away with the cash and at least one Tupperware-type container full of marijuana. Police have not said how much pot the robbers took. They fled south on Washington Street in a black Ford Mustang with red racing stripes, police said. Police rushed to the neighborhood, just off downtown, searching for the robbers after the 4:30 p.m. hold up. They stopped men near Louden Nelson Community Center at gunpoint, but the men weren't the suspects and were freed, authorities reported. The robbery victim was initially identified as a medicinal user, authorities said. One robber was a black man about 16 to 18 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 140 pounds wearing a gray sweatshirt and a black baseball cap. The second was a black man wearing a red shirt and red hat. He was in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 170 pounds and missing his two front teeth. Both were armed with silver handguns, police reported. The third robber was a Latino man about 19 or 20 years old with a light mustache, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 190 to 200 pounds, wearing a black sweatshirt and armed with a black handgun, according to police.
