A Saskatoon family is resting a whole lot easier today.
They've learned an application for permanent resident status has been all but signed off on after previously worrying about being forced back to the United Kingdom. "The pressure is off the family, everyone can be themselves again," says a relieved Freya Tarttelin. Freyda, her young daughter, and her husband Chris are expecting their permanent residency cards soon after a bureaucratic mess of red tape. After admitting to marijuana use some 20 years ago in England, Chris was forced to undergo a psychological exam but would not be able to take it until after a deadline to apply for residency. But thanks in part to media coverage, Freyda says their case was revisited. Chris no longer has to take the exam, and the family has cancelled preparations to permanently relocate back to London.
