Two people have been charged with drug offences after a community tip-off led to the seizure of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of more than $700,000 in north-west Sydney.
Police discovered more than 200 cannabis plants, leaves, fertilisers and cultivation equipment at a house in Baulkham Hills yesterday, after receiving information from a member of the public. A 41-year-old Baulkham Hills man and a 37-year-old Belmore woman were arrested at the house. They have been charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis, and offences concerning electricity theft and diversion and will face Parramatta Local Court later today. Two young children were also found at the house, but police say the seven-year-old girl and the 13-year-old boy live elsewhere, and have been placed in the care of a relative. In a separate incident, 169 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $600,000 were found at a house on Stoney Creek Road in Kingsgrove yesterday. The drugs were found when emergency services were called to a fire at the home. No-one was inside at the time.
