TUCSON, Ariz. -- The lead singer of a popular Tejano band pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to a money laundering charge.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Adalberto C. Gallegos Jr., the 52-year-old frontman for The Latin Breed, received more than $270,000 from the sale of marijuana between February 2004 and July 2006. Gallegos deposited the money in a Bank of America account in Tampa, Fla., and then later withdrew the funds in Tucson. Gallegos, of Tucson, was indicted by a federal grand jury here in December. He's scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 6. A conviction for money laundering carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or a $500,000 fine, according to prosecutors. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...aundering.html |
