Last month 55 year-old Steve Senn, a severely ill Crohn's disease patient, was sentenced to a year in jail for the sole crime of using medical marijuana while under court-supervision after being unjustly convicted of a DUI offense. The arresting officer claims Steve had alcohol on his breath. That was the only evidence used to convict him. Steve was wrongfully convicted of DUI of alcohol with no breathalyzer or sobriety test.

A year later, after Steve had undergone monthly "treatment", the Judge revoked his deferred prosecution because Steve had tested positive for medical marijuana. Steve is receiving experimental medications that have already caused serious complications.

Douglas Hiatt argued before Judge Gillings in Marysville last month, reading from a doctor's letter explaining that Steve could suffer life-threatening complications if put in jail. Immediately thereafter, Judge Gillings sentenced Steve to one year in jail. Steve's attorney won a stay of sentence pending appeal, so Steve has been free on bail pending appeal.

Judge Gillings wrongfully convicted Steve of DUI, then he wrongfully sentenced him to a year in jail even though he has had a medical marijuana authorization for almost ten years. Now Judge Gillings has wrongfully ruled that the appeal has been declined due to the delay in providing a small piece of the appellate motion that has been in process during the last month. Steve Senn is about to be thrown in jail unjustly and illegally. Attorneys Douglas Hiatt and David Arganian are working furiously to
forestall this travesty, and prevent a serious tragedy.
