Minister of Indigenous Medicine Tissa Karalliyadde told Parliament yesterday that Cannabis (ganja) was a plant of high medicinal value and the indigenous medicine would die a natural death without such plants.
Mr. Herath who was referring to media reports, which said the Minister had asked permission from the top to promote Cannabis plantation, asked whether it was true or false. He said the government should give serious thought to it as addiction to drugs including the ones made out of Cannabis had increased during the past and there had been several cases of toxication. Citing an example he said 20 persons had been hospitalised after consuming a narcotic drug which was called ‘Tharalasara’ in Pallebedda recently. The JVP MP also informed the House that an increasing number of school children had beent addicted to drugs. The Minister however said the government was ready for a Parliamentary debate on it. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...-ayurveda.html |
