OK, you pained pot heads. The San Joaquin County supervisors, on a split vote, have given the go-ahead for the county to develop an identification card for people allowed to use medical marijuana.
This is a collision point between state and federal law, but supervisors decided last week they had no choice but to get the program going under the provisions of the Compassionate Use Act state voters approved 12 years ago. Where exactly people with a doctor's note allowing marijuana use will buy their grass is a question, since there are no known stores in the county. There was an attempt to set a store up in Tracy some time back, but it went nowhere. Sheriff Steve Moore had a warning for users with cards: Don't drive under the influence, don't sell weed, and don't give it away, say, by having a few friends over for a pain relief party. Oh, and one other thing: Using pot is still against federal law, the sheriff reminded supervisors. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...they-must.html |
