Legal marijuana? Could we be dreaming? The state of California has already legalized medical marijuana, and some people there see a future when the market could actually be regulated like other products are, and sold.
There is a building in Pasadena, California that carries the sign, "Medical Cannabis Caregivers Directory". It is inside that building that Liz McDuffie has begun offering a course on how to become a "primary care provider" of medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is legal in California with a doctor's prescription. And although for years, the people who dispensed it had to watch over their shoulders for federal agents who might want to stop them, all that may soon be over. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder hinted this past week that federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in California and other states may stop in the future. And also last week, a bill was introduced in the state legislature seeking to legalize and put a tax on the pot. McDuffie told her most recent class... "This is a new industry that's going to turn California around, and you're it. "The bottom line is that arguing the medical benefits of marijuana is like arguing that the world is round." The 66-year-old McDuffie has been using cannabis for medical purposes since 1967, when she developed migraine problems. She says she has since used it for other conditions. McDuffie says she believes that the key to the industry's legitimization, is in regulation and compliance. She teaches everything from proper labeling - even doing demonstrations of new software that helps label containers of marijuana - to a medical marijuana certification program, Clean Green, that she was instrumental in founding. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...marijuana.html |
