Medical marijuana patients have asked lawmakers to consider legislation that would legalize their medical treatment.
Jacqueline Patterson and two other patients asked House Speaker Ron Richard's office Wednesday to allow a public hearing on the bill. Richard has not assigned the bill to a committee for a hearing and a spokeswoman for his office said the bill is not a priority. The legislation would remove the drug from a list of substances deemed to have no medical value. It also would bar police from arresting people who have a doctor's note to use marijuana. The provisions would be subject to voters in 2010. Patterson, who has cerebral palsy, moved from Kansas City to California because that state allows medical marijuana. She said the drug helps her speak and alleviates muscle spasms. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...uana-bill.html |
