State health officials said they will mail the first 150 medical marijuana registration cards to program applicants on Friday. They said the cards are required to legally grow or carry small quantities of marijuana per the state law that went into effect on Dec. 4. A user must also have a doctor’s letter recommending marijuana use.
The medical marijuana program has gotten off to a rocky start in the state, with police in Madison Heights and elsewhere in the state confiscating plants from people who say they are part of the program. Police say even though the law went into effect in December, the Michigan Department of Community Health did not have its card program set up until April 4, so people growing or using plants, even if they had the doctor’s letter, could still be breaking the law. Medical marijuana advocates argue the letter is enough proof. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...ana-cards.html |
