A Fife record of 1,700 cannabis plants with a street value worth about £500,000 and High-powered lamps needed to operate the cultivation have been recovered from a huge factory by police. The raid follows Operation Impact, which took place on Monday, which also saw 19 Class A drug dealers arrested.
A 51-year-old man was arrested following a raid on a premises in Cowdenbeath. He is due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday. Concerned members of the public had notified police after noticing suspicious activity at the property. It is the latest cannabis factory discovered by Fife Police, which takes the total value of drugs seized in the region in the last year to almost £2.5m. Det Insp Neil Kerr, head of Fife Constabulary's drug squad, said: "This seizure highlights the fact that we will not rest on our laurels following our recent successes. We will continue to vigorously pursue drug dealers. I would also ask members of the public to report to us, any houses in their neighbourhoods where blinds or window coverings remain closed at all times, which could be an indication of cannabis cultivation in progress."
