N.H. - A small group gathered in MacGregor Park yesterday afternoon to publicly smoke marijuana.
Seven supporters of the decriminalization of marijuana participated in a 420 Celebration-Rally, lighting up marijuana and passing it around in the public park. John Contraros, 23, a former Derry resident now living in Pembroke, organized the event after similar protests in Keene and Manchester. "I saw the ones in Keene and Manchester, and decided it has got to spread," he said. Contraros organized the event through a Facebook group. He said it was meant to be a statement against the prohibition of marijuana. "Prohibition is dumb," he said. "It doesn't work — it's easier for kids to get pot than alcohol." Mike Barskey of Derry attended the events in Keene and Manchester. He said he didn't consider the rallies to be protests. "It's not really a protest as much as it is a gathering," Barskey said. Derry police were absent from the rally. The events in Keene and Manchester have become a daily occurrence. It was unclear if the rally would continue in Derry. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...uana-laws.html |
