Garden City administrators have turned down a man's request to open a medical marijuana clinic for a second time, causing him to cry afoul.
Although a city manager says the man doesn't meet the requirements to open the business where he wants due to zoning rules, he says the nature of the business is why he keeps getting turned down. "This is not a dispensary. This is like a consultation clinic," William Runco tells Fox 2. "My feeling (is) it's like they're trying to hide us somewhere that's not really (the) central business district. I mean, I don't understand. There's an adult book store next door," City Manager David Harvey says Runco's clinic does not fit in with the city's wishes for a walkable downtown, and in fact has encouraged Runco to consider opening shop elsewhere in the city. "He could call himself ABC Consulting or ABC Counseling. It has nothing to do with marijuana. It's all about zoning. In fact, we've encouraged him to look in other districts," Harvey said. Runco says he is considering starting his clinic in Dearborn instead. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...rden-city.html |
