Default Alleged Pot Farm Family Expected in Court This Week

Connecticut — Members of a New Milford family charged with operating a marijuana farm out of their basement are due back in Litchfield Superior Court this week.

Hung Van Pham, 46, and Oanh Thi Pham, 43, were arrested by New Milford police on Dec. 16 on charges of operating a drug factory out of their home at 3 Arthur’s Court. The couple, along with their son Tony Marh Pham, 24, and Hung Van Pham, 54 — a brother to the 46-year-old Pham — were also nabbed on numerous charges.

All four are slated to appear in Litchfield Superior Court on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Alleged stolen electricity was what drew police to the home, after officers receiving a report from Connecticut Light and Power that electricity may have been taken from Northeast Utilities during the month of December. A search warrant was served and the investigation resulted in a seizure of 30 marijuana plants, 24 bags of fertilizer and numerous artificial heat and power source from the home’s basement.

The alleged stolen electricity was used to power the growing system for the drugs, police said.

The couple and the brother are being charged with operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and cultivating the possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.

Tony Marh Pham was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to sell.

All four appeared in court on Dec. 17 and the three older Phams posted the $15,000 bonds. Tony Marh Pham posted a $10,000 bond.

The couple reportedly works in the Danbury and Bethel area. Oanh Thi Pham has operated a Vietnamese restaurant in Danbury, while Hung Van Pham works for Eaton Corp. out of Bethel.

The brother lives parts of the year in Ontario, Canada, and in the Danbury area.

Tony Marh Pham, who was born in the United States, is reportedly a restaurant manager and a student at a local college.
