Michigan - A medical marijuana case in Delta County had supporters picketing in front of the courthouse this afternoon.
Over 20 medical marijuana supporters and members of U.P.NORML demonstrated their support for 45 year-old Brenda Chase of Gwinn, who is charged with driving under the influence of marijuana. Chase says she has a prescription for medical marijuana for health problems and feels her rights were violated. But officials say under the current statute, it's illegal to drive with any amount of THC in your system. Today, the judge denied her request to keep her drivers license, which was revoked under her bond guidelines. "If you have THC in your system, no matter how much, it's illegal. Medical marijuana users are going to feel the pinch between do I have the right to use it if it's been prescribed to me and can I drive?" Said Jim Soderberg, prosecutor. "Having crohn's disease and colitis and this stress is even worse on me. I don't need it and the legislation needs to step up immediately and do something about this before it starts happening to more people," says Brenda Chase, defendant. Chase says she plans to take her case to trial. No dates have been set at this time. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...ourthouse.html |
