PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Medical marijuana advocates have filed petition signatures seeking a statewide vote on a proposal to legalize marijuana in South Dakota for use in treating pain, nausea and other health problems.
One of the petition drive organizers, Emmett Reistroffer of Sioux Falls, says nearly 32,000 signatures were turned into the secretary of state's office in Pierre on Monday. That's nearly double the 16,776 valid signatures needed to put the proposed law on the November ballot. State Election Supervisor Kea Warne says it will take officials a few weeks to check whether enough valid signatures were turned in to qualify the measure for a statewide vote. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...uana-vote.html |
