PROVIDENCE—Health officials are setting rules for three stores in Rhode Island that could sell marijuana to patients registered with the state.
The state Department of Health filed the rules Friday, months after lawmakers decided to expand the state’s medical marijuana program. Rhode Island became the third state in the country last year to legalize the sale of marijuana to medical patients. The state first allowed sick patients to possess the drug for pain relief in 2006. But it never explained how they were supposed to buy it. The new rules take effect March 18, when the state starts accepting applications from potential store owners. Marijuana is illegal under federal law, although the Obama administration says it won’t target stores that obey state law. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...na-stores.html |
