A Senate commission studying the decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana is getting closer to making its recommendation.
Chairman Joshua Miller said the commission will be deciding whether to embrace language in bills already introduced in both the Senate and the House or recommend amendments. The Cranston Democrat says it appears to him the majority on the panel back a version of legislation already introduced in the House and Senate to make possession of an ounce or less of marijuana a civil infraction, punishable by a $150 fine. Possession of any amount of marijuana currently carries a criminal penalty of up to one year in jail, and a $500 fine. The panel is made up of lawyers, legislators, as well as medical and law enforcement professionals. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...mendation.html |
