A Michigan man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 182 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $412,000, during a traffic stop March 24 in Lucas County.
James C. Statzer, 43, of Buchanan, Mich., was charged with drug abuse and trafficking in drugs, both second-degree felonies. Troopers stopped a rented Mercury Grand Marquis, with Colorado registration, for a marked lanes violation on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 55 at approximately 9:07 a.m. today. Troopers observed criminal indicators and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 182 pounds of marijuana. The suspect is incarcerated in the Lucas County Jail. If convicted, Statzer could face up to 16 years in prison and a $30,000 fine. http://www.420magazine.com/forums/in...ffic-stop.html |
